Overdose Awareness Day, What you should actually be aware of...
This day I started out bitter. Angry at the word, overdose. In my mind saying outloud Keethan's death was due to overdose was shameful. I remember the first time I said it. I was in a group setting and the woman leading the group asked us to go around and say who died and how. Looking back now it has been vital to my healing. I cried, I was so ashamed, what would people think? "Oh just another junkie" See that's the thing, Keethan was not "just another junkie" and quite frank

The Most Important Lesson My Daughter Taught Me
This week I decided while the girls were in school I'd get their room cleaned up & OUT LOL We talked about it Sunday! Getting rid of old things, moving around things they want to keep, and anything else they may want. Change is good and seeing that my girl embrace that is amazing. All good vibes. The excitement has been building, and they were excited to see a TV in their room yesterday when we got home. The girls played and of course still made their way back to my room, LOL

YOU ARE MY GREATEST WORK 💝
I know this stage of your life is short lived. So I'm holding on just a little tighter these days. More of the yes when you want to spend time together and do fun stuff.👭🏖🚢✈🚘 More of the park, season passes, last minute trips, Uncle Julio's 🌮 See, when you look back I don't want you to remember a Mom that worked relentlessly. I don't want you to think about how many kisses you needed to give me each time I ran out to the hustle. 🏃♀️ Understand, it has taken me years to

As the Summer starts to come to a close we decided to spend a little extra time at our spot.
Ya know this past week has called for quite a bit of reflection and appreciation. ❤ The mood of these trips has shifted. I don't spend 4.5 hours in tears, praying for God's strength and comfort. I don't get lost in my overwhelming thoughts of the how's and what if's. I no longer feel victimized to this new way of life. 🎯 The tides of my waves are turning I'm becoming the shifter. 🌊 Gaining a tighter grip on the intentions I have set for the things I want for our lives. Hell some nights I'm still there. 🍾 You know what helped me more than anything else ⁉️⁉️⁉️ APPRECIATION OF WHAT I HAVE SITTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. 👩👧👧 I know I know, here she go getting all "WOO-WOO" HEAR ME OUT 👂👂👂👂 The minute I decided that

I USED TO BELIEVE I WAS NOT WORTHY OF MY BIGGEST, SCARIEST DREAMS.
Who? Me? How could I even?🤨 Hold up sis! You wanna give your daughters the world, but YOU AREN'T WORTHY?🤷♀️ ⬅️⬅️⬅️BACK THAT ISH UP!⬅️⬅️⬅️ 🗣 How are you going to do for them if you can't do for yourself? SIMPLE- IT'S NOT POSSIBLE.💥 The people that know how to bring happiness to others understand that they can only do so if THEY ARE HAPPY.👏👏👏 So I decided to STOP SUPPRESSING MY LIFE.🙌 I stopped with the Mom guilt, I stopped putting MYSELF LAST! 🙌 GUESS WHAT? "The only reason that you're good at goodbye"
Living without having anyone to trust brings anxiety like you can't imagine. At age 8 I started realizing how many people I could trust, and how many actually loved, without stipulations. Realizing that there are people that don't want to take advantage of me. That it's ok to be vulnerable, that there are people that won't judge me. This changed my entire view on relationships. Losing one of those people, someone so close, can be debilitating. Navigating the grief from that l

You remain.
"A thousand times I've failed, still your mercy remains. And should I stumble again still I'm caught in your grace.

Everlasting. Your light will shine when all else fades. Never ending. Your glory goes beyond all fame.

My heart and my soul. I give you control."

I realized recently I was only giving Him the bare minimum. Just enough to still protect my heart.

As soon as I let go of trying to control my life, the faster things started moving into place. 💫

This day has remained bitter sweet... A little late but our Father's Day tribute to Keethan
I prayed for my children's protection, God answered, and since then I have only given him my heart. Perhaps it is no coincidence I am present for the teachings I most need to hear. Keethan was undeniably his happiest, in his role as Father. These long drives, he looked forward to so much. Chuck E Cheese, Pleasure Pier, McFadden beach, seeing his eyes light up when we went these places had me confused. It wasn't because he was living his childhood fun, he was lit with joy from

YOU HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN HEALING
I say this with all the love in my heart. You have to find and create what works for YOU. Family, long drives, writing, exercise (even if some days it's just the elliptical)
THESE THINGS ARE THE BASICS.
That's not ment to down play the importance of TIME. Another vital piece to the heartbeat of healing. Sis, it will take time.
For some of us connecting with others also walking with grief is a huge help. Some of my closest friends I have found also are healing from losing

It emcompasses living a good life
T hat is, with a sense of meaning and deep satisfaction." Satisfy your own needs & desires before you others. Sis, LOVE YOURSELF.
.
The ability to love doesn't come from practicing or proving to the ones you love. It comes from your practice of loving yourself. Taking care of your physical being, mental health, allowing yourself to create your life as YOU desire at your highest vibration. Fill all your cups so they run over and into others.
.
Sis TAKE CARE OF YOU FIRST.

Sorry, not sorry.
Some people will judge you" 🙄 what's new? "Some won't know how to take your bluntness." Uh wake up it's 2019 suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in adolescence ages 10-24 WE'RE NOT HELPING ANYTHING by being DISCONNECTED, turning a blind eye, and pretending like we're not human and all struggle at some point with something.
.
.
For me, it happens to be grief. It happens that their was a long, hard road BEFORE Keethans death. Turmoil, rage, addiction, long lonely nights

ENGAGE IN POSITIVE BEHAVIOR
Seems simple, right? ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌ Uh, not. When I hear that I think, “be a contributing member of society” “be kind to your neighbor” THIS IS NOT WHAT I MEAN WHEN YOU ARE DEALING WITH GRIEF. What I’m mean is ENGAGE by getting involved, engross yourself in positive environments, surround yourself with positive people. POSITIVE BEHAVIOR Practices, habits, activities that are GOOD FOR YOU! Good for your body! Good for your spirit! Good for your mental health! Good for your

Sharing with others...
The number one tip I feel to healing is sharing your experience and feelings with others. Sharing helps us feel validation, relation, and emotional expression. All which are, vital to the healing process. You have to have someone you can talk to without fear of judgement. They have to be able to support you, listen, and be present. Without, giving their “best advice” or “how they would” Sis, YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE who can determine what is best for YOU & YOUR FAMILY. Nobody kno

Feeling the presence of someone who's passed is unexplainable yet almost enchanting...
For me, personally a sense of calming surrounds my girls and I especially when we visit their Father's parents. Nothing else exists, being in their home. With family, is all we need. And for a few days, rehabilitation from the hustle. A break from the grind. Sharing stories, spending time together, our children's smiles and laughter. Long summer days near the water, crawfish, and late nights in the yard. For this Mom, the hustle is worth it. Making every decision, getting ev

IF I COULD JUST...
I could just go back to this moment I would have hugged you one more time. I would've begged you to stay sober and take care of yourself. I would have told you that everything would be o.k. and it's alright if you need help, we, your family are here to support you. If God would just let me see your face one more time I would accept your death and move on. Of we could just have one more conversation, one more embrace. I swore I would face the next day with a positive attitude

The Universe and living your purpose
t's funny how the Universe responds to you. How it is right there to assure you along the way. I made the decision to press on into my purpose, scared, but hey, that's how they say to do it. As soon as I got off the call, the first act was to get my calendar out and build the schedule. Under my calendar, a smile so big I couldn't deny feeling the reassurance that we are heading in the right direction. And as though she felt the Universe talking too, Malayah, "I miss my daddy.

I have walked this path with the 3 most important ladies.
They have been my biggest fans and supporters. When families are grieving it is a delicate dance that takes skill, respect and understanding. Listening is almost all you can do for one another. Everyone is in a different space. Some get stuck in denial, like it's not reality, or it hasn't "sunk in". I person dwelled on the last day we saw the Carter Girls Father. We were at the beach, it was the first time we hadn't argued in months, it was peaceful, just the girls and us. Re
